Cafe Kantary, Khao Lak Town, SW Thailand

This is a cafe outlet in the Khao Lak town center area, from Kantary group (Cape Hotel and serviced apt.) with hotels such as Cape Panwa hotel in Phuket, Cape Nidhra in Hua Hin, Cape House in Langsuan BKK, Kantary hotel in Khao Lak...etc.
At this visit to this cafe, I tried their iced mocha which is surprisingly good (a right balance of coffee and cocoa and yet it's not too sweet).  Their cakes and ice cream are not bad either.  Highly recommended for those who look for a nice place for a coffee and a sweet.

Chocolab, Sofitel So, Sathorn/Rama 4 joint BKK

Just as its name, everything in the shop is all chocolate in such an intrigued decoration.  Feels like being in another wonderland.  Got an iced mocha.  Pretty good.  I can say it's a very heavy cocoa mass and the hot choco. is even a double recipe of a classic hot choco. drink (normally the classic recipe is double thickness of quite many common choco. drink, i.e. this one is quadruple of the common one).  You can dilute it into 4 portions if you want a common one - very economical.  After so many years I had a big pimple after a few sip of this drink.  It told how rich and original of this choco. drink.
P.S. the shop quoted a famous line from "Forrest Gump" - Life is like a box of Chocolate (you never know what you are gonna get.).

Mr. Jones Orphanage, soi 13 Thonglor, BKK

 Finally we could get a table for this crowded shop.  It's quite fun to check around but the cakes and desserts were another story.  The cakes were either too chewy or dry or tangy.  The tea was very bland.  The better one were the avocado shake and iced mocha.  The chairs are good as a display.  So overall, this place should be a museum rather than a dessert shop.  After all, it's quite fun to go in and check around.

Kyoto Roll En, dessert shop, Gateway Ekkamai, BKK

 The shop has a very interesting an diverse menu of sweet, ice cream, shaved ice, cream roll, custard, ice cream sandwich...  For those who like typical Japanese sweet (to me it means super sweet), this is the place.

明記甜品 Ming Kee dessert shop Sai Wan Ho HK

Got disappointed with the recent visit at this shop.  Too much coconut milk in almost everything.  They should concentrate on their herbal jelly rather than making too many other food like the snowy ice and hot meaty food.  It's really not the same humble Ming Kee which used to be adored by the neighbours, especially the students who spread the word of mouth to earn this shop a name.

Tsui Wah HK style tea room

 Friends in town and I must bring them to try the piggy buns by Tsui Wah.  One of them is a fan for herbal jelly.  Surprisingly he found a bat man shaped herbal jelly (photo 3).  So we had 2 orders of piggy buns and a French (HK style) toast with vanilla ice cream.  The drinks were awesome too.  We had lime gum-guat, lime mint frappe and fresh orange juice.   Today is the first day Tsui Wah has been put on IPO.  Wish her a further big success.

Fallen Dynasty - Sweet Dynasty, Hysan Place, Causeway Bay HK

Such so many bad lucks with all the branches in this new mall Hysan Place, including this one which used to be my favourite place (only the Happy Valley main shop but now no more).  The branch in Happy Valley reminds me of so much good old memory esp. with my very best friend that we often got their almond sweet and pork chop on rice.  Unfortunately, this new branch didn't even keep up to a standard of a decent Cantonese dessert shop.  The almond sweet is horrible like corn starch water.  The red bean herbal jelly is not chilled and the red bean is not cooked well.  The only half edible one is their sticky rice dumpling with Malteser (photo 2) because of Malteser.
