This city has changed so much that over the past 20 years it's been surrounded by many high rise buildings.  Behind the modern glamour, the city has become less safe than 20 years ago.  I was warned from not showing my personal belongings in the street.  Yet, more and more taxi drivers asked for a flat fee instead of metered charges.  After all, I still enjoy my time in KL, especially in seeing some old friends.

Harrod's Cafe, KLCC, KualaLumpur

This shop has been in KLCC for quite a long time.  Somehow I didn't try it, until this time that I found KLCC much too crowded for me to find a quiet place for a drink.  To certain people, they may feel that some shops with nice deco. and a prestigious name may mean "pricey".  That isn't the case often.  The drink and cake in this outlet are at the same price of Starbucks or CBTL.  Got an iced mocha which was blended with a choco ice cream.  It's quite rich to me though the ice cream is not bad.  Then we tried an English tea cake.  A bit too sweet to me and overwhelmed the fine English tea leaves flavour.  After all, what I want is a quiet place from the hectic and busy KLCC mall.

The Oreo cheese cake (photo 1) was quite good that I promptly ordered and tried their red velvet cake (photo 2), but the latter was so so. On another visit at the branch in pavilion, their apple pie and choco. mouse cake are worth trying. What's more, their coffee and mocha are even better.

Some shops know how to attract customers (photo 1), but if it lacks the charisma of how their food and service to be, eventually the curiosity would be replaced by the reality (photo 2). After I had a bite on it, it's not that impressive. Actually I didn't expect much when I first saw the toast wasn't on a charcoal toasting. BTW, the branches of this shop in HK are selling their toast and bread at very high prices that I waited until I tried this one in Kuala Lumpur. I can say "limit my marginal loss".

Old Town Cafe, Central Market, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I guess this brand isn't any stranger to those who love the brand's white coffee. Whenever I am in KL, I would drop by this place for a special coffee. This time I tried their hazelnut coffee (the left one on photo 2). To go with the coffee, a wheat toast is the choice. The wheat bread is pretty good though.

Dragon I, Pavillion, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The branch of this shop in Mid Valley City did impress me much of their Tan Tan noodle and the smoked fish. However, the branch in Pavillion is a bit disappointing though it's still a bit above average. Interesting that I like their stewed peanuts (photo 2) and their soy bean drink is pretty good. The siu lon bao is worth trying too.

Pappa Rich, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Passed by this shop and got caught up with someone's deep fried chicken wings. Then we tried more than some chicken wings. The food was average and personally I like the red bean frappe. As I walked out of the shop, I forgot ordering their charcoal roasted toast.

It was a long time ago when I first visited here. I recalled it's a very crowded and noisy market selling a lot of local snacks and sarongs (batik). Now that it has undergone quite a change. Cleaner and more tidy. I still see some very old time memory (photo 7/8).
