Satellite city Tseung Kwan O, New Territories HK

I have recently read a review that there are now 48 big or small shopping malls in this big satellite city (with around half million people living there). Out of curiosity, I came here for checking around this big housing estate Metropole 新都城 and its 4 community malls connected to the 4 corners of the MTR station. All I can say they have everything needed.

Shek Wu Market 石湖墟, Sheung Shui 上水, HK

Visited here today and found out some old lost memory. No. 1 photo: this kind of shop was my most visited shop for my old days of home cooking. 2: Gold line semi-sun dried salty fish金線半晒咸鮮魚. My family used to sun dry this fish out on the kitchen. It's not like the salty fish. It's just marinated with about 1-2 table spoon of salt (unlike salty fish put in a thick bed of salt). So it's not that salty. So good to put some ginger slices and oil for steaming. No. 4: I bought this "fried rice cake". It tastes so good and not sweet and pretty crispy and crunchy. At least not hard as stone. No. 5: This one really caught my eye and my sister already ran up and grab a bag of this nice dried tangerine peel. What caught my attention is the nicely even deep brown color without any dark spot on the peel and very light. So HK$70 for one bag isn't expensive.

望夫石 (A stoned wife), Shatin, HK

In our primary school text book, this one is the symbolic figure in Shatin. A tale behind it is about a wife carrying her baby and went up to the hill for longing for her husband's return. She was so determined without moving an inch day and night. She then became a stone (a real stone, not meaning she got hypnotized or drunk).

Tin Shui Wai 天水圍, Hong Kong

This place has been quite controversial over the past and it's said to be a city of sadness because of the several family tragedies happening. A song also composed as "Sky Water restraining the town (天水圍城) to further negatively dramatize such sadness of family tragedies and condemn this town to be a town of nowhere to go and no hope to take on. I really find it irrational and unfair to the people living in this area. Today I went to have a look at this town and took some photos to reflect what I feel. Spacious living area and comprehensive traffic infrastructure, lots of green - what more do you ask for?

1/2. The living environment is pretty nice as you can see there are even more space among each building.

3. There are some bicycle lanes around the town. I would love to have a bicycle ride on such a sunny day even though it's not for work. 4. I saw some big green trees at every corner around the buildings. The green will make people happy and eye-relaxing. According to some doctors, get your eyes seeing some green is good the eyes.

5/6. there are quite a number of schools in the town. Also the traffic connection is very convenient except the bus fare is a bit expensive - $22 for going to Causeway Bay.

7/8. There are garden and water ponds inside the housing estate.

9. On the bus ride, I took a photo of Ting Kau 汀九. I used to come here for visiting one of my friends - the house on the 3rd one from left close to the shore. 10. another view to Tsuen Wan West.
