滬江飯店, Wu Kong restaurant, Causeway Bay HK

Every time if I had quite a no. of unhappy meals, I would immediately go back to some of my favourite restaurants for a healing.  Wu Kong is one of the healing "hospital".  This time they had something new on the menu.  Photo 1: Jasmine smoked duck - as noted, it's quite moist with a strong duck meat flavour with the right amount of smoked aroma.  See the cutting skill - very evenly thin cut.  The chilled cucumber lifted the strong meat flavour to a fresh sweet drop to the dish.  Then on photo 2, they made this renowned deep fried yellow fish in sweet and sour sauce.  Highly recommended.  Photo 3 is the  sesame dumpling in ginger sweet.  Nice dumpling wrap but the ginger was a bit too strong that I had to dilute it a bit.  *the last 2 photos were taken at close to 11pm.  That's why no one was around.

Back to ours - there's no place like home. A special dinner at Big Shanghai restaurant, Suk 24, Emporium BKK

Passed by this place hundred times and puzzled if I should go in.  Finally the clock was turned back...  Back to something we used to have...
And here we had a special dinner.  The most surprising thing is the classic and the original cooking of hot and spicy soup which the Shanghai's hot bean paste was used, instead of the white pepper that nowadays most restaurants use.  The other nice one is the stir fried eel, also a classic cooking with raw chopped garlic with hot burning oil to bring out the aroma.  The other dishes aren't the best, they are still pretty classic.  Most of all, we could be here on a special day, and right next to Emporium.

Wu Kong restaurant 滬江飯店 Lee's Theatre Plaza, Causeway Bay HK

This shop moved from Times Square Food Forum to the Lee's Theatre Plaza in February. The move didn't move away her fans including me. The quality didn't move either. It's one of the very few that can always keep up their food and service, not even a single time disappointing me. The below shows 2 visits within 3 days. Yes, so good to share with good friends. Their Peking duck set (HK$888) claimed to be for 4 person portion can serve for 6 persons (a chicken dumpling soup for 10 bowls, a big fish, big fried noodle...). Super bargain and super delicious. I am also very delighted to finally taste the mini dumplings in wined rice and osmanthus sweet (the last 2 photos) with some tangerine. The shop gave some complimentary western dessert due to the long line waiting. That's why Wu Kong's fans keep on waiting without complaints. Very good customers' services.

Dragon I, Pavillion, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The branch of this shop in Mid Valley City did impress me much of their Tan Tan noodle and the smoked fish. However, the branch in Pavillion is a bit disappointing though it's still a bit above average. Interesting that I like their stewed peanuts (photo 2) and their soy bean drink is pretty good. The siu lon bao is worth trying too.

滬江飯店 Wu Kong Shanghai restaurant TST HK

It's interesting to see a restaurant in the basement which can survive nearly 30 years and almost every night it is full house. It was about 10pm I came here for a late night dinner and it's still full house. Most of them are local HK people.
Ordered a drunken pig's knuckle, salty pork tofu casserole and a stir fried fish filet with 薺菜桂魚片. I cleaned up all the plates and even the seaweed peanuts (photo 2)! I even drank some of the wine from the drunken pig's knuckle. I seldom drink but this one is so good that I made an exception. *check the last photo. Interesting to see its fellow shops still there, e.g. Larry shop.
