和成豐 Hua Seng Hong, Central World, Bangkok

Missed the headquarter of this shop for some acquainted friends.  Some left for good.  Some weren't in contact somehow.  Not in any need for a FB search, nor care for opening an account being searched for.  Rather put some memory in a frame, like a photo of the time and the light particle being frozen without any subsequently intruded.  Life is in moments.  To keep every moment intact, then to keep moving forward to create moments.  That's how I tried this new branch of Hua Seng Hong in Central World.  Still love their fried rice with preserved olive (photo 2) and their house signature dish stir fried rice noodle (photo 3) and their stir fried fish maw (photo 4).

滬江飯店, Wu Kong restaurant, Causeway Bay HK

Every time if I had quite a no. of unhappy meals, I would immediately go back to some of my favourite restaurants for a healing.  Wu Kong is one of the healing "hospital".  This time they had something new on the menu.  Photo 1: Jasmine smoked duck - as noted, it's quite moist with a strong duck meat flavour with the right amount of smoked aroma.  See the cutting skill - very evenly thin cut.  The chilled cucumber lifted the strong meat flavour to a fresh sweet drop to the dish.  Then on photo 2, they made this renowned deep fried yellow fish in sweet and sour sauce.  Highly recommended.  Photo 3 is the  sesame dumpling in ginger sweet.  Nice dumpling wrap but the ginger was a bit too strong that I had to dilute it a bit.  *the last 2 photos were taken at close to 11pm.  That's why no one was around.

Ramen Tei, Silom BKK

This shop has never been disappointing to me over the past 10 years.  Very nice soup and noodle and most of all, their stir fried egg with black fungus is awesome.  If you wanna have an idea about how we call "wok air" (鑊氣) - slightly burnt aroma in a super quick fry at high heat, this dish would tell.  At this recent visit, no matter how full I was, I still got to get a bite.

2012 Autumn review: The Grill Tokyo, Siam Paragon BKK

This place is one of my suggested eating agenda for friends I bring to eat around in BKK for the first time.  The purpose is to have a break from too many Thai hot and spicy food with something light at a reasonable price and a nice environment.  If I count back, only there was one time this place was a bit disappointing, 19 out of 20 times were all up above my expectation.  At this recent visit, the price has gone up by a further 15% (THB450 net for a 4 course meal lunch set, vs THB349 net for the same of 10 years ago).  No complaint since the food quality was kept up to its quality standard.

Sunday brunch at Lawry's HK

Lawry's offers a Sunday brunch from HK$200-320 including a red or white wine or fresh juice, a salad or soup, a main course and a coffee or tea.  This time we ordered a mix grill (lamb/steak/spring chicken/sausage) and a grilled seafood platter (lobster/prawn/salmon/sea bass/scallop/mussel/squid) and a prime rib of course.  Everything is awesome and unexpectedly fresh.  Had 2 baskets of bread too.  Nice wine and freshly squeezed juice to the appetite and aromatic coffee and tea to finish.  Highly recommended to bring your family for this brunch on weekend.

2012 Autumn review: Lawry's, the prime ribs,

Lawry's HK is one of the few restaurants that hasn't disappointed me in every visit I have had.  Though this time the service is a bit not up to standard, the bread, the salad, the mushroom soup and most of all, the prime "Prime Ribs" are always the drive to get me addicted to re-visiting Lawry's.  I ordered 2 baskets of bread to go with the mushroom soup.  The funny thing is that I don't like mushroom soup and cream soup much.  Except for this one at Lawry's, I would empty the bowl.  Their signature spinning salad with chilled fork deserves an all-time two-thumbs up.  When the prime ribs was served on the table, the nice beef aroma with the warm hot original beef stock gravy and the Yorkshire pudding with moist mashed potato.....  :)

Wu Kong restaurant 滬江飯店 Lee's Theatre Plaza, Causeway Bay HK

This shop moved from Times Square Food Forum to the Lee's Theatre Plaza in February. The move didn't move away her fans including me. The quality didn't move either. It's one of the very few that can always keep up their food and service, not even a single time disappointing me. The below shows 2 visits within 3 days. Yes, so good to share with good friends. Their Peking duck set (HK$888) claimed to be for 4 person portion can serve for 6 persons (a chicken dumpling soup for 10 bowls, a big fish, big fried noodle...). Super bargain and super delicious. I am also very delighted to finally taste the mini dumplings in wined rice and osmanthus sweet (the last 2 photos) with some tangerine. The shop gave some complimentary western dessert due to the long line waiting. That's why Wu Kong's fans keep on waiting without complaints. Very good customers' services.
