Since last night I couldn't sleep due to the strong wind and rain hitting my window. Then this morning at around 10am something I heard some heavy stuff broken quite close to my apt. At first, I was wondering if it was my rooftop storage room got ripped off. However, if that was the case, there was nothing I could do at such a strong wind. Actually since Island East (the giant commercial building next to my apt.) was built, the wind from north east is almost 2 to 3 times stronger than before as it narrows the wind channel in a bottle neck.
OK, the accident was that 2 big window glasses from Island East were blown away and hit the the apt. C from 7th to 10th floor (I was on unit B):
1. the entrance of Westlands Court and you can see the guy cleaning up the scattered glasses.
2. the windows of Island East got blown away.
3. the serious one is on the apt. C of 10th floor. As you can see the cement bare window got torn apart. Not sure if someone got hurt. Then downwards all the windows got broken.
4. note how big that window glass is.
So it's true that for a Chinese saying "該死唔駛病 (When it's time to die, no need to die of any illeness)". Actually my apt. unit is the most vulnerable to being hit as it is on the top floor. Don't I need to sweep my sweat on my forehead?

lucky at least the window didn't hit urs directly
i have heard the typhoon is very fury one this time
take care
By the way, those 2 windows seemed to look small but they are not. The actual size is more than 3x8 meters. OK, will post how they installed that window.
it is in the headline news in major HK newspaper today
i saw 4 broken windows in your building that is so scary
Wow. This looked scary. I heard there was typhoon in HK but I did not expect it is that fierce(as Jade Channel did not report much last night). I will pay attention to the Jade Channel news tonight(at 11 pm)to see if your apartment is on the news. You shall kill the chicken and thank God as you really lucked out since you are on the top floor(I assume as you mentioned you have a roof top garden). God bless you and your family. The only good thing is you get one day off.
Hey, your apartment(Wah Nan Garden) is on the special Jade news just now(9:25 pm). The reporter was interviewing 2 Wah Nan apartment residents there(one old man with glasses, the other younger guy also with glasses).
They also mentioned the air flights are on hold.
Yes, your apt. was on the news on every channel as this is a very special accident. I think Island East should do something on their windows. It's not just one window and that window is one ton in weight according to the news. Wow your apt. is now very famous.

Haha, today I was in a business meeting and this topic was on a side agenda. Now it's also on the other side of the world. Yes, that window is very big and heavy. The specialist said the hit is more than 4 thousand pound.
lucky no one in those 4 units got hit directly otherwise it is not just neglect but tragedy, those workers shall be brought in the court as what if residents of those 4 units weren't that lucky ...
BTW, I have a friend who had a car accident due to someone's mistake. Now whenever he is in a high speed motion, he will have his body shaking uncontrollably and his mental therapist told him he needs to take medicine for an indefinite period of time. So even the people were not hurt, they are now under some phobia for sure, especially at some stormy weather. If it's in the States, the compensation is more than just a surface damage recovery.
I think even for other people, they would feel worried when typhoon comes, especially for people living close to those window glass commerical bldgs. We have lots of this kind of bldgs. in HK. That's why HK is called a city of glasses. The Government should think about the physics of the wind between the buildings. We don't have enough space between buildings and that cause the whirl wind like it said in this accident. The wind blocked by buildings around and then it will be double speed to whirl wind, like that time it happened in Wanchai. Many glasses fallen down because of the whirl wind from the strong typhoon. Very scary.

In-the-Sea just brought up what I was going to say. Yes if this happens in the US, all residents at "Wah Nan Garden" already got approached by lawyers to file a "class action" for their mental damage......
It is hard to believe how can the windows still open during big wind with no taping.
I saw this apartment on Jade Channel 3 times last night. Now "Wah Nan Garden" becomes famous all over the world. But I heard they mention "Jud Yu Chung" instead of "Shaw Gay Wan" though.
it donald duck knows physics, he probably won't have this laughable lineup, oops, it is true that it need some good iq to be good at physics
