1st/2nd/3rd: Pomelo in Mango sago cream on mixed fruit. The presentation is really something, but the taste is so so and especially it's not chilled enough.4th: while I was eating, in order not to let my friend wait too long, they sent this nice strawberry sorbet as complimentary. It's not sweet and the strawberry tastes so good.
5th: sesame dumpling in cookie pastry. Inside the pastry it's a sesame dumpling, then dipped with caramel sauce. A perfect combination!
So overall, some of the food are over priced. The bill in total is close to Baht 6,000 (US$190). However, the place is designed for westerners. When we walked out of the restaurant, we were given some fortune cookies.

Look at the pictures it was portion for 2 persons. Wow, THB 6,000!
By the way, the waiters are really smart. When he knew that we were taking photos, he purposedly let the setting for photo taking, especially for the mango pomelo sweet. He did that for a progression of our photo taking. This is how a hotel training is.
Yes, this is called good attentive service. I like both Oriental Hotel and Shangari-la Hotel for both food and service.
The Peninsula BKK is not as good as it was rated on "T&L" magazine.
The only Peninsula which is good may be the one in Hong Kong. BTW, their room is so nice that I like it a lot. They have a doorway for going to the room and 2 doors; so the sound proof is excellent! No wonder Peninsula HK is rated within top 10 hotels.
peninsula bangkok also have this 2-door system, and a panorama Bangkok C.B.D. view, but bad service
however, in recent years, peninsula bangkok already surpassed peninsula hk in hotel rating in many leading magazines, of course we in no where understand why! maybe peninsula bangkok only give service to western travelers
So that's why I like Oriental chain so much, from the one in KL, Manila, Jakarta, Macau and this original one. They have excellent services. Besides, they listen to cutomers' opinions and improved their services. Unlike most others, they often say "your call is most important to us....", but they never pick up the phone.
if u study the background of this 2 hotels (peninsula and the mandarin oriental), esp. the major shareholders and the executive management team, u r easy to find out why!
