1-3: moon cakes by Tai Cheong cake shop. A bit disappointing but I shouldn't have expected it too much. Making famous egg tart doesn't mean it's a guarantee on moon cake. One of the important thing is how the chef stir the lotus seed paste (鏟蓮蓉) and it's also why moon cake is quite expensive because it's the labour cost. This process of "stir lotus seed paste" takes a long time and the technique of adding lark (yes - lark - pork fat is so nice to be in it) or oil is important. Can't add in the oil at once but little by little so that the lotus seed paste can have a better aroma and smoother.
4: moon cakes by Maxims. Kind of a product guarantee but someone told me this year Maxim's is not that good. I will give it a try later.
5: moon cakes by Kee Wah. Supposed to be the best but I don't like mini moon cakes somehow. It's because the small size moon cake can't store the moisture well and the lotus seed paste isn't that aromatic. I still recommend the classic size of moon cakes.
6: Hakka snacks by Tai Cheong. I can say they are so so. Tai Cheong should just concentrate on its egg tart business.
7/8: Tai Cheong's new branch at Fraser Suites Wanchai.
In conclusion, this year I found out a small cake shop in Sai Wan Ho won over all of the above. Their lotus seed paste does smell a strong taste of lotus seed and the texture is very nice. Will introduce it once I can buy one more. Sorry took it all after I realised I forgot taking a photo.

Yum yum. I had one box of Maxim, one box of Kee Wah(mini moon cake), one box of Wing Wah, and one box of St. Honor.
The Maxim one I had was 4 yolks, I got a stomach ache 2 hours after eating this so I went to rest room a few times(which I enjoy very much).
The Kee Wah one is too sweet.
The Wing Wah one is delicious and smooth(but oily).
St. Honor is the best as it is not that sweet, and not that oily but still smooth(also the cheapest out of the 4). St Honor had Hello Kitty mooncake one year and it only cost $10US. But no more this year.
By the way, why the ice skin(bing pei) moon cake is so popular? The one I had last year(from Maxim) was not good at all.
I don't like the ice skin moon cake much. Some people like it is cold and chewy.
