A new guess - what this bldg. used to be? The hint: it was once a good old memory for quite many people, including me. Also note on the bldg. next to it on the right. Answer to be disclosed on the mid-autumn festival (14th Sept. HK time - GMT + 8).
I know, but I want some others to guess first. I think In the Sea can't have too many hints because this bldg (not the one in the photo) is a landmark of this area. Stella, are you from Hong Kong? I think you should know it if you are here from the 70's(maybe) to 2005. I guess it was down in 2005 or 2006, and now rebuilt with this new bldg on the photo.
William, it's not the part of the Kai Tak Airport.
Man, I left HK in 1976. But my memory of HK bldgs are vague. I just asked my reporter friend in HK to read this morning and she cannot even tell. She said lots of similar bldgs in HK. Hints please. Or multiple choices.
Why Man can recognise this bldg is simply because he passes by this area quite often. I can say it's not in Wanchai. Quite many years ago this place was once controversial and being boycotted by people of certain race.
Mmh... William, your guess on Daimaru is sensible as it was once quite controversial. However, this one is boycotted by certain group of Japanese. I think some of may have known it as I told some of you quite many years ago but not sure if you still remember it. Even not from me, the news was widely spread in the community. Ok, one more hint - this bldg. was once under a big international chain.
Actually I want to guess Hyatt for long time, but I suppose the background shall have a tall building, as shown in the pic doesn't. So I drop the idea of Hyatt.

Any hints?
Will I be able to tell what this bldg was?

Stella the building is not called Hints I think! People place a guess here by name of the building.
Ok, I guess again. Dai Maru.

All right, my last hint - it's in Tsimshatsui. Some of you should have known by now if they know this bldg was torn down a few years ago.

Sorry Angel. Star House is still there next to Star Ferry Pier. OK, the answer is this place used to be Hyatt Regency. Thank you all for the trial.

I know Hyatt Regency. But I did not know it was torn down. What a pity.
