Don't know why last night I made a dream about this room and especially the 2 paintings on the wall. I am still a bit obsessed with these 2 paintings. Besides, the smell of the vacumn tube amplifier is so deep in my mind. I played Thirteen Sense (a group like Cold Play), Moby and Primal Scream CDs with that amplifier - still echoing in my ears. However, I can't find any chance of staying in this room again as it was demolished at the end of 2006. Soi Ari - what a name of memory.

Reflections has split its restaurant and hotel
restaurant now on Ari Soi 7
hotel in Saphankwai
Har... so the hotel guests need to go out to soi 7 for ABF, kidding? There should be a cafe in the hotel for that purpose. Anyway, it may not be the same. I will write to the hotel if they still keep the old stuff from the previous one.
i think the restaurant on Ari 7 is a franchise one
Reflections Restaurant is fun, but not delicious, fit for the locals palate
Even for the old one, it's not good. Yes, the hotel is for fun rather than spending time on their food. On the old location, just opposite there is a Italian restaurant, walk inside the small lane next to that Italian restaurant, there is a nice local Thai restaurant (I forgot the name - it is something like Rose Garden in English).
u maybe talking about the Suan Kulab (Rose Garden), this one is very famous among civil servants (the Government PR office and Finance Ministry are there) and Soi Ari miidle-class residents, but not to my palate
imagine a place famous for the somtam gai yang but also sell Cantonese dimsum and deep-fried prawn with salad cream dressing, funny
good point is Thai meets Chinese, but if they don't have two separate kithcens (one for issan food, the other for chinese) in the compound, of which it doesn't, then i have no praise in their food
I see, but maybe last time my Thai local friends ordered the food. It was pretty good to me. Besides, it's not that salty as you know Thai food is often quite salty. Price-wise, it's quite cheap. I brought a group of around 25 people and it's just B3,200 (US$100). My Japanese colleagues were so surprised and realised why I chose Bangkok for my conference on a second time.
Suan Kularb is cheap and easy, just like Anna Cafe, cheap but decent good although not outstanding, this is the formula of success; being a high-end restaurant is quite risky instead, you have to be real good (since we pay pay pay a lot) and provide top service
we never pick on Anna's service right? (indeed they were pretty good), but we do care while dine in Pierre (Mandarin Oriental HK) right?
Yes, totally agreed with you. I often told the others we can be really demanding on what we pay for, like that time I told you about my experience at Pierre of Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong. BTW, the restaurant is in the no. 88 among the best 100 restaurants in the World. I would have some reservation on those food critics, especially the western one.
Anna's cafe - their apricot bread xxx something is pretty good. Their food is so so. I can't recall their service though.
how can u couldn't recall Anna's 'cute' service na
Mr. Sea, you are so brave. The 2 photos are scary to me. How can you sleep for 2 people look at you?
