Hua Seng Fung (和成豐), Yaowara (China Town), Bangkok

It was September 1997, my friend's daughter being a CX staff got told by his Thai friend about this restaurant in China Town. Then we went to this restaurant, and fell in love with it. However, for no reason, we have switched to other restaurants. This midnight we went there again for some old memory. Glad the shop lady still recognised us. Maybe in the old times our regular monthly visit really impressed her.

1. the shop inside and don't think there will be anything fancy, but I like it to keep in the way it is. 2. the menu is on the neon board.

3. the iced chrysanthemun tea is the shop's signature drink - so cool for a hot day off. 4. wow, this is impressive. Tonight we could tell the difference. The soup is unlike the other shops - thick and salty. This one is in a very refreshing taste. Also, the ingredients are very fresh.

5. stir fried morning glory - at my first glance, it looked a bit over-cooked. It's not and it's pretty nice. 6. This is my regular dish and they can still keep it so well - stir fried silky rice noodle. Yes, it's silky tiny but not mashy. Stir frying this type of thin noodle really needs a very good quick frying technique. Besides, it's not oily at all. My no. 1 recommendation!

this Hua-Seng-Fung in Chinatown is much better than 阿妹 (義福卷) and 阿媽 (天龍) of which these mother and sister quality keep declining in years

Correct, especially Ah Mui has lost her best skilled chef. Now it's good to come back to this classic restaurant.

So this restaurant has not changed owner for 22 years. And Sea did not change much for 22 years either. Good sign.
It is always good to see good old friend or go to good old restaurant as there is a special bonding to it.

Sorry Stella, it was my typo. Should be 1997, not 1987. So it was 12 years ago. This restaurant already has had some branches in some shopping malls, but I think this one is still the best.
