星洲炒米 Singapore stir fried vermicelli, HK early fusion food

When people often talk about fusion food, there are yet many classic dishes found to have been in fusion in the very early days. This one should be one of the dishes being so popular in many HK local tea restaurants' diary. The name still remains unchanged regardless of Singapore having renamed itself as "新"加坡. So we can see this one getting very deep in HK local eating culture. Together with the other signature stir-fried noodles/rice such as 肉絲炒麵 (sliced pork noodle), 乾炒牛河 (flat noodle with beef) & 楊洲炒飯 (Yeung Chow fried rice), and with an iced lemon tea or milk tea or iced lemon coke. That's the most wanted dishes in our local tea restaurants' era. I occasionally would feel like any of these 4 stir fried. Forget about the oil and calorie, sometimes.

All these are my regular weekend lunch most of the times. Plus the iced lemon tea or iced HK style milk tea.
More and more HK style cafe in here.

这4款炒粉面饭在80年代名叫四大天王.

Thank you Poly for the note.
What a good name for the 4 dishes, sound like the 4 famous singers.
P.S. Your blog is nice too Poly.

感谢Stella也看我简陋的博客,其实4大天王不是四位歌手发明,我们去较大的佛寺入门口就有四大天王守门口了,其实哪个时候因应此来筹够四位天王就是.

Correct, that name existed a long time ago. Just people forgot how that was and often related to those 4 singers in the 80's.

Thank you Poly for the explanation of the term "four big sky kings" with further validation from Sea.
