Sai Yeung Choi means water crest. The direct translation is "western" for sai, "foreign" for Yeung and Choi as "vegetable". So I guess it's probably originated from a foreign place. However, don't think you can come here for Sai Yeung Choi. It's not for vegetable. If anyone knows why it's named, let me know. Thanks.

I was told this street used to sell Watercrest(Western Vege).
is that true? Then the street parallel to Sai Yeung Choi Street is Tung Choi Street, if so, that means Tung Choi Street was for Tung Choi (morning glory)? For Soy Street, it will be for soy sauce?
May be this area used to be a market selling Watercrest, Morning Glory and Soy Sauce.
Well, I think so, as that area has lots of names referred to certain things, like Sai Yee "Washing Clothes" street, Yim Po Fong "Dyeing" Street. Then I think most of you may like this one Fife Street, meaning getting rich asap!
