Water Villa, Niyama Maldives

The whole size of this villa is about 180 square meter. As the resort was just opened this April, it has a promo. offer for a half board upgrade. It's good to have a half board since after a full breakfast you may not eat much during lunch. So simply go for a sandwich or a salad for lunch.
The room is pretty spacious with a nice horizontal view. The resort offers plenty of bottled water with some complimentary snack like Hagen Daz ice cream, local snacks and a pop corn machine for some freshly made pop corn. A nice espresso machine with various choices of coffee. The bath room is very spacious in a very light color with a bath tub on a sea view too. When you are in the rest room and bath room, you wouldn't feel bored as there are some fishes outside. Out on the sun deck patio, a very nice plunge pool and a ladder down to the sea.

Wow I like the room facing the water.
And walking down to the ocean to swim is always my dream.
How much is the hotel here? Both promo price and regular price?

Too bad that there aren't such water villa in Thailand, say Samui where there is some shallow sandy area.
SS, it's at about US$1,000++ per night but with a promo. for buy 5 stay 7. At average it's US$700++. However, it has to be thru' a local agent for a package for Maldives since there are so many miscellaneous costs and yet the flights are not so convenient that a 1 night stay over at Male city is required, due to the seaplane only service in day time. Normally the HK agent sell about HK$20k (share twin basis) for a water villa for 3-4 night stay package.

Wow $700 US per night with the promo is very very expensive and very US cost of living.
Cannot believe this place can really sell high based on one and only one product: water & ocean related. Also this product is free to them in fact.

Nice, they do provide complimentary water & snacks! I saw wine, beer & cold cut hams etc in fridge too, bet those are not free!?

Wonder how much customary tips shall we give to the room attendant, restaurant servers & other staffs? We'll be staying at the 1 bdr water pavilion w/ privite butler, want to make sure leave him a reasonable gratuity. Any suggestion? Thx.

Yes, and good enough bottled water by Bonaqua (by Coca Cola) and 2 ice creams and their house made snacks and pop corns. They have a menu showing what's free and what's not. very clear.
Since I don't have too much smaller notes, I paid twice to the butler for about US$100. It would be good for you to have some smaller change at the counter. Maybe US$1-5 for each time of service, depending on how much the service is.

Good that they make it clear what's free & have a price lists for the other. Ok, will bring some small changes for tipping. May I ask u how many days u stayed there?

Actually the others aren't expensive considering it's a 5 star resort. If I recall, something like US$3-5 for a soda. BTW, they have a Deli that you can get something light or a cool drink and the Deli runs from 10:30am to 5 or 6pm.
I stayed there for 7 nights, but still felt that it's not enough. :)

Very nice, 7 days dream vacation in Maldives! I'm sure no one will say it's enough for staying in such a paradise! But of course w/ quite a price of pay. :p

Some high end resorts in Thailand are at a similar price. However, with the flight costs, the trip to this place looks higher. It's a very different travel experience, esp. for the many first times of seeing sharks, sting ray, eel...etc. though I see them in many HK food market. It's in wild nature.
