Grove, Sandwich and pasta shop, Quarry Bay, HK

The original shop is on the intersection of O'Brien Road and Jaffee Road in Wanchai and still there. The shop was first opened in the mid. year of 2003, right after the SARS devastation. Back then, it served only sandwiches and salad at moderate prices (from HK$10-15). The good thing of their sandwich is that they use wheat bread and quite some veggie. That's an attraction for people to care about health, especially after SARS. Last year, I was happy to see it opened its 6th branch in Quarry Bay. I was also amazed at their keeping at the moderate prices and even with more choices for half and full portion (from HK$10-28). Just pay a few dollars, you can get a freshly brewed coffee (Movenpick). So a full portion of a tuna sandwich and a asparagus mushroom pasta with 2 coffee at just HK$72. Later on, I ordered one chicken panini grilled (HK$30). Health wise and money wise, this is a good alternate choice than the other fast food chain.

oh Chu vs. Grove, that Chu shall feel some shame, oh maybe the young owner of Chu doesn't even know what is shame!

Sigh... Chu's even considered themselves as much better than Starbucks...

well, service wise, to do better than Starbucks is quite a challenge; but for food and drinks, better than Starbucks is not hard, just Chu is way too much yucky (i think the owner has no taste-buds and lost his palate in mouth), and service at Chu is 'no service' .. shame on those advertorials recommended Chu ..

I agreed with Mickey.
As for sandwich or food, it is not hard to beat Starbucks.
As for overall including service, atmosphere, staff attitude, comfy setting....., Starbucks is hard to beat. Starbucks really sells service and home feel; coffee and food are only the by products.

I still think there are lots of junks which are worse than Starbucks in terms of food/drink, not even mention services. Just some people don't know where they are and put Starbucks on the condemned list. I guess TC may quote the no. 1 shop in this scenario... :)

Yes I agreed. Starbucks is just too famous to avoid the criticism.

oh yes, at least Sea can drink and finish Starbucks drinks; but almost vomit at Bug and Bee after just a sip of that awful smoothie ..

SEA can go to Bugs and Bees in HK now.
I saw "Eat and Travel Weekly" introduced them.
