常餐, 特餐, 快餐, 全餐, ABC 餐, 金鳳茶餐廳 Various meal sets with Kam Fung restaurant, Wanchai HK

Passed by Kam Fung on one afternoon. There came the hot aroma from the freshly baked egg tart, chicken pie and "pineapple" bun. Decided to put aside all those high fiber, low fat, low sodium. Got a "pineapple" bun with a slice of fresh butter, ham omelette, satay beef noodle, sausage noodle, iced coffee, ovaltine, chicken pie and egg tart. Thanks to such local classic tea rooms as Kam Fung for bringing back all those flavours. The coffee of Kam Fung still keeps the classic making of the old time so-called "Honolulu" coffee (a name to be referred to a western coffee) - boiling to be with roasted aroma without the bitter taste. The "pineapple" bun has a nice flour flavour. The best is their chicken pie, so buttered aromatic.

I think this restaurant was introduced in the "Eat and Travel Weekly".
Lately I am reading a magazine called "Ming Pao Weekly"(2-18-2012 edition), they mentioned there is one new product using the flaky crust of the "pineapple bun" but inside is BBQ pork instead of chicken. $18 for 3 buns. The famous place for this is at "Tim Ho Wan" at Shum Shui Po(phone 2788-1226). This place has earned one star from Michelln. The owner is originally the dim sum chef at "Lung King Huen"(Four Seasons Hotel). You can check him out.

义燒菠蘿包? This isn't new and I think it has been out here over 20 years. That Tim Ho Wan was the talk of the town early last year. It should be in Mongkok, not Sham Shui Po, though I didn't go there. I think I wouldn't go there, since it is still very crowded.

Mickey, wish they have one branch in the HK Airport. Flying chicken pie... :)

OMG, already 20 years for the Char Siu Pineapple Bun and yet LA still does not have it. I have to tell my customer here in Alhambra. We are really behind.

Yes the Tim Ho Wan they recommend at Ming Pao Weekly is located at Shum Shui Po Fook Wing Street Number 9-11. Maybe they have more than one branch. ALso outside I saw a sign saying "To Air Port and Museum".

Not sure but from the very first time when Tim Ho Wun became well known, it was told to be in Mongkok. Maybe they moved recently, or having one more branch.
Yes, Mickey, that's the a good name after you wrote it in Chinese. :)

Hi ZhenYan,

It will be something "Char Siu Bo Lo Bao", but I think in many Cantonese dim sum restaurant, it'd be like 焗叉燒飽.
