When the new HK airport was to be built in the early 90's, Tung Chung was undergoing a big change to be a satellite town to the airport. The mall above the Tung Chung MTR station Citygate has changed itself into a mall of outlets from a number of brands such as Puma, Addidas, Coach, Dunhill...etc. Outlet mall is not exclusively on a freeway stop anymore.

This outlet mall is quite fancy.
Is this a real outlet with factory discount like those in Palm Spring Factory Outlet?
In my old experience, the outlets in Cabazon (I-10 to Palm Springs) or Barstow (I-15 to Vegas), those outlets usually sell some items which are defected or outdated or whatever needs to be sold asap at a price at 70-90% off. However, the outlets here are sold at just 10-50% off and some not even at discount and just like those retail shops in shopping areas.
OK, I got it. So your outlet here is different from those at Cabazon or Barstow in terms of discount. Yes Cabazon outlet is usually 50% from the original price as the store would like to "clear" the inventory or the outdated stuff.
So your outlet shown here is more like those at Ontario Mill(in Ontario, CA) which is similar to the regular Shopping Malls with only nominal discount.
Cabazon Factory Outlet is my favorite as they have over 100 brand names there.
BTW, Barstow outlet is no more(only empty shops).
oops.. time flies. I got 3 501 jeans from Levis Barstow outlet in 1992 and I still keep wearing them, but the store was gone... Cabazon has grown a lot from only 20 outlets to more than 50 or maybe more now.
