thousand egg, salty pork and dried oyster congee, by Shin Kau Kee 新九記, 大王東街, Wanchai, Hong Kong

I should have reported this one rather than the Congee King (who was written by the media as the no. 1). For those who still remember, congee should be boiled with broken rice for a long time. Though it's been with a long time boiling, you can still see the broken rice in it. Nowadays many congee shops just blend the congee to make it smooth. They forgot it will lose the rice aroma if they blend the congee in such a way. Some congee shops even uses some rice congee powder.

For this one, it's a classic one. Besides, we can hardly find dried oyster to be put in the congee. What's more, they even put "dried tangerine peel" in the congee! I have tried almost half bowl to tell it's dried tangerine peel. I would give this 4.2 marks out of 5.

It seems that Wanchai has lots of good restaruants with inexpensive price.
You are lucky In-the-Sea.

I think it's because Wanchai is quite an old residential area and the restaurants are quite established. There are also a lot of nice restaurants in Central too.

OK, no problem, let's give it 4.9.. :)

Yes, there are many nice places in Wanchai. Some are trendy on the Star street area and some are traditional like this one. I like the fish ball noodle restaurants in Wanchai. 3 out of 4 are good.

Oh, I think Wanchai is commercial area since so many offices there and my friend also works there(an investment company called Swiss Privilege).
Also many hotels there and the annual convention in Sept is held there(I don't remember the name of the convention).

Yes, the news told Wanchai is the most crowded area and in average each person has a higher income. I don't see people who are rich in Wanchai. Don't know why.

Wanchai north (the harbour side) is very commercial with lots of modern office buildings. Wanchai south is the old established area.

Yes, I think in average the people in Wanchai are quite rich. Remember there are some luxury houses on the hillside of Wanchai. Moreover, some old people living in the old streets of Wanchai are invisible billionaires. They may not be like those rich tycoons living in the notable rich and famous style. There was a time I was in the HK bank counter, next to me there was an old man about 60 something wearing some worn out white T and sandals. However, he told the counter girl "I wanna buy 100k US$ from my HK saving a/c 200K Australian dollars, 100K pound as fixed deposit.....". So don't tell people from their outfit.
