What's that "tempura like" fried stuff beneath?

I think some of you may have tried it (Thailand Club, please don't tell the answer as definitely you know it). So what kind of cuisine do you think of and what's that actually beneath the prawn?

Thailand Club,
Are you sure this is shown on your 1st quarter 2007 post? As I don't see this dish from your post between January to March 2007 period.

The question is what kind of cuisine and what is it beneath that fried prawn. It looks Japanese food and also with the Japanese style plate. But the Japanese tempura will not make prawn in open face. Many prawn is like that in Thai restaurants in Bangkok. It should be Thai cooking. So my guess is "Thai cuisine". About that green thing inside, it may be some kind of vegetable because you can see some leaf. I know what it is but wanna let others to try.

Man, I do believe you have the answer in your mind from your description. Stella and the others, please go on the trail as Man paved. The way you checked on the photo did enlighten me to look at things in more details. Thanks for such sharing.

BTW, TC, I just noticed you have renovated your whole blog. Add more posts in the past sections. Even more colorful!

Oh, Thai Food? Then I have to look again. I only checked the Japanese food from TC's Jan-March 2007 posts and no wonder I cannot find anything.
For now, will that be fried chili?
P.S. Yes, I noticed TC has refined his blog format too.

Ok, the answer is "morning glory" for that fried veggie. If you go in a Thai restaurant and see "crispy morning glory", don't think it's the way they fry the morning glory to half done to make it crispy. It's really that deep fried crispy. :)

I was thinking fried veggie, but never think of morning glory though.

I didn't even think of crispy morning glory can be like that. Actually it's my second mistake I made. Now it's very deep in my memory. Next time I will avoid this one.
