Din Tai Feng, Causeway Bay, HK

A new branch was lately opened next to the Regal Hotel on Pennington Street. Again, a big banner of the Times magazine's article for this shop was posted at the entrance. Give us a break!

Food other than the steamed dumpling/buns is indeed so so to me. I would suggest visiting this shop is only for the steamed dumpling and buns as a snack. The famous Taiwanese cold noodle really sucks the most (no. 8 photo). Noodle too mashy and it's warm actually! Next worst is the beef soup. If some frozen beef is used, then pls add some beef stock. The stir fried veggie is below average. The shop is somehow crowded with many tourists, probably from the next door Regal hotel.

There are two of these in Arcadia, East of Pasadena. I have been there couple of times and it's always crowded. The food is way over hyped and really not worth the wait in line for. The steam dumpling is ok good and other food is so-so. I would only go again once in a while if there were no line.

Funny today my friends just complaint about the long wait of this restaurant which is not worth it. It is also expensive and not filling.

SEA is right, this restaurant can only be for snack(quite a plain taste and expensive snack).

The two shops in Arcadia are next to each other and both are so full. Their varieties are not that much. Really don't know how they earn the not-so-deserved reputation.

Mickey Mouse, I share the same comments with my Taiwanese friends that this shop is like a restaurant in oversea China Town. So the rating is also on that reference.

Pixmation and Stella, so their food quality is at the same standard. Let's put it to the healthy side, it's low in sodium, low in calorie, but high in taking your money. :)

You are absolutely correct SEA.
That is exactly what I told my friends the beauty of this restaurant is low sodium, low oil but also make your wallet run low after eating.
The beef soup here is 100% the same as in LA; looks plain and tastes plain. Very healthy.

Then back to point 1, why we spent so much to eat something we can have at home - plain rice and plain water. :) BTW, I don't think we eat too much frozen meat at home. Sorry we should have eaten much better at home.
