Went to a gala dinner at Tao Heung in Wanchai. Took this set menu and we were surprised with the portion and the quality of it. At HK$1,488+, you can get a Boston lobster over E-fu noodle, Baby pig/BBQ pork/roast goose/pig's ear platter, Stir fried giant clam with squash, steamed shrimp patty stuffed in squash, braised conch slice over veggie, chicken in baking salt, steamed garoupa, seafood soup, stir fried sticky rice and fresh fruits, plus 1 big jar of plum juice, 1 big jar of cane juice and 2 big bottles of beer!

har so much food in the list, and all r expensive stuffs, u mean HK$1,488+ per person don't u?
the fish very fresh, but not so happy that u picked her from a tank .. hehe
$200 US for this feast is a good price. How many people eating here?
What a coincidence here. I am now holding an article about this Tao Heung from Sing Tao Daily's Sunday newspaper in front of me.
Every Sunday Sing Tao Daily's B6 Section will introduce some good eating or shopping places in HK. This Sunday(yesterday) they talked about Tao Heung in HK. They mentioned this Restaurant, started 1991, now has 84 stores including HiPot, Chiu Lau, Top Lau, Chung Choi, Hark Ka Ho Jarn, Ying Hey Big Restaurant besides the original Tao Heung.
The whole set is for 12 persons. After service and misc. charge, it's about HK$1,7xx. I doubt how they can do it. Just the garoupa and the lobster E-fu noodle plus the BBQ platter, it is already over HK$1,200.
omg a set for 12 for HK$1,700 net drinks inclusive is super good price, and of good quality and good taste, dont understand why Bangkok topped Hong Kong in Asia best food and wine city, maybe HK doesn't cook orange chicken, so the voters not so happy with it!
I think only some big chain restaurants like this can afford to offer such a value dinner set.
Wow less than $200US for party of 12 for this feast in this Restaurant is a bargain.
I think only big restaurants can afford to offer this kind of cheap price good food as the "loss leader".
So HK not always expensive then.
Why some restaurants have this kind of cut-throat menus is to keep impressing the customers "there is a Tao Heung". Say, if I think of a place for dim sum in lunch time, I will think of this one. So this is a very good ad.
They are smart to throw the brick and get the jade.
