Mandarin Oriental shop and cafe, Siam Paragon G/F, Bangkok, Thailand

1. Blue berry cheese cake. The one is 80% similar to the classic New York cheese cake of MO HK of 20 years ago (now no more in MO HK). I have been extremely lingered onto my most favourite NY cheese cake by the ex-MO HK and so far none can be compared to 50% of theirs, until I came across this brother. Nowadays many cheese cakes are either too creamy (to get a smooth texture) or too hard. Some even forgot the classic sour cream and put some sweeter cream on it, completely forget the original NY cheese cake that the classic sour cream is a perfect match to the rich cheese flavour. So glad to find a 80% alike brother after all these years. Why 80% is because it's a blue berry one without the classic sour cream, but they didn't make the blue berry to extra sweet and rather made it more fruity flavour to match the original cheese flavour. BTW, I explained it to my friend on how either the fruity acidity or sour cream to match the cheese flavour since my friend didn't try the original cheese cake but got misled by the other sweet cream cheese cakes over the years. 2. Dark choco tart. Another delight to taste the aromatic dark choco. and it's not sweet either.
3. My favourite iced fruit tea. Back behind is the best Thai iced tea I have ever tried. However, as I asked the shop lady if I can buy the tea leaves, I got a polite apology as it's in a secret recipe. Though she recommended me to go to Yawara to get some, it wouldn't be the same for sure. For those who like Thai iced tea please this is a must try!

Oh my dearest MO and my dearest cheese cake, can we put this place in our August agenda please?
Too bad TC said MO has no discount on hotel rate yet. If they can lower to $300(last year was $350 US) I would like to stay for 2 to 3 days to recollect my good memory. Please ask TC to keep checking and don't commit to other hotels yet.
I miss the welcome drink, I miss the breakfast, I miss the fish feeding program, I miss the heated pool, I miss MO.....

Stella, please make a wish on 4th of July and your dream may be coming true. The rate will be even less than that.... mmh... what about US$222?

Har, $222 US? Too good to be true? This is really a wish.
Did you mean you saw some ad lately? If yes, please make sure we can stay in a normal room with bed and shower. Or this is MO extension at another location.
I am very doubtful.

TC emailed me last week one so called MO promotion that made me laugh: $330 US room rate with food credit of $150 US for mandatory 3-day stay(and no free breakfast).
I told TC this was not good at all: $50 food credit per day is not that good if no free breakfast.
If I have free breakfast then I can save more: $40 x 2 x 3 = $$240.
Good luck on your search guys.

Nothing is impossible. :) I'll make sure it's not Mandarin Hotel on Rama 4 (though torn down) or Oriental Inn in Yaowara. Otherwise $222 is too expensive as you need to entertain some "professional" people in day time and "demanding" unseen people in night time.

Very true but it's good for those who stay up late. Then they can use it for Lord Jim's for sashimi as breakfast.

OK, may force be with you!

Hong Kong really has a Mandarin Oriental extension, known as the MO at Landmark (just 2 small blocks away from the original MO-HK)

Hong Kong also has a MO group managed hotels with a different brand, the Excelsior Hotel

so in Bangkok, if MO has an "extension" or not, Stella, u will know pretty soon, in September .. :-)

You guys are killing me softly with MO.
Yes, I can sense there may be a new "MO Express" like Holiday Inn Express or "MO Extension" like UCLA Extension for those who want to settle for the lower grade.
If there is such a MO Express/ Extension with $222, please show me the photos or the rating first. Or you guys stay there one night to try out first. It has to pass and ok by the two of you as I trust you guys.
I don't want a heart attack surprise later.
Good luck to me.

Then get ready for a heart attack. Heart attack can be from big shock (bad things, horror..etc.) or extreme excitement (winning lottery, seeing a long time old time...etc.) :)
