We haven't had such a severe typhoon over 13 years. Last night almost every family was busy with cleaning the water pressed thru' the tiny crack of the windows. This morning, we have seen half of the trees pulled down.
Glad to hear from news tonight that this is over and your guys are back to normal. This was the most severe typhoon in the past 13 years in HK. Just some mother nature disorder will make our life so messy and inconvenient. This reminded me of the Dec 1 storm last year in LA that made us move out for 4 nights due to no electricity, no heat, no cooking, no warm water..... Now I really understand and treasure the meaning of "no news is good news".
Yes, this typhoon was very severe and intensified in such a quick speed. Quarry Bay is much affected during typhoon hit because it is a cape on the northern shore of the HK island which counters the wave in from Lei Yue Mun. So when there is some strong wind like this one, the water would be pressed against Quarry Bay and so some sea water would come in from the underground pipes. Then the super tall Island East will make the wind more swirling.
