I got excited not because of the snow, nor the lavender, nor the renowned soup noodle...etc. about Hokkaido. It's from a movie starring Jodie Foster, "Contact", a movie about searching Extra-Terrestrials. Jodie failed to take the job of taking a hyper space trip on a tele-pod invested by the Government (sent by the Extra-Terrestrials. There she was offered by a private entrepreneur for taking that trip on another tele-pod as plan B. The tele-pod was built in the sea off Hokkaido, near the famous town Otaru. Though the movie is on a fiction, this place is somehow charismatic to me.
