Cathay Pacific inflight meal

At my friend's request, I took some photos of the meal service by Cathay Pacific.  Interesting that I enjoyed the fresh fruit, bread and the ice cream.  The main course fillet with mushroom sauce was pretty good but just it's my problem for taking food with less sauce.

Your meal is different from mine. You must be in business class.

Yes, that's a meal service for Business class. However, I noted that the main courses of Business classes and Economy classes are almost the same.

This meal looks a lot better than the meals we had.
Our meal had one dinner roll, one salad, some rice or pasta, and fruit. There was absolutely NO Haggen Dazs at all. They said Haggen Dazs is not for long haul.

CX used to serve Haggen Dazs on long haul flights about 5-6 years ago, as I had this ice cream for my long haul flights in Economy class. Now they serve ice cream (Wall's, no longer Haggen Dazs on economy class) normally in the afternoon or evening flights in Asian sectors (around 2-4 hour flights).

They still served Haggen Dazs for the HK-BKK route during March/April.
I think they try to cut budget now.
"Eva Air" also recently discontinued to serve instant noodle in flight. You have to pay for it if you want one. My friend told me the instant noodle at "Eva Air" is very famous and delicious(so I tried last time and it was good). My friend bought 2 cases back to LA, can you believe it? She also bought one case of "Hello Kitty" instant noodle for me this April.

Try to cut budget?? How much does Haggen Daz ice cream or instant noodle cost out of the $1,000 US air fare?

wow the presentation looks so nice. hope they can do the same in economy class.

There was a time I chatted with an air-stewardess about how they keep the ice cream. They put those in a cool box with dry ice. If the ice cream can't be consumed for all, they need to throw them away upon arrival at the destination port.

Little cost can be accumulated to high cost.

Thanks for the explanation from the air-stewardess.
Now it makes sense and (also makes cents) for not serving Haggen Dazs in long haul flight.

Hi,
I saw from Jade Channel News 2 nights ago that CX was fined by LA Airport for $10 MM(not sure HK or US dollar)regarding some violation of Anti-Trust Law. CX is charged to have some conspiracy with 4other airlines(including Air France I heard) to do this. I did not hear the first part of the news.
Do you guys know what this is all about? I am afraid you will not have any ice cream in flight after the fine. This is big money.

Yes, I did notice that news. It's something about the frieght cost that they control the pricing. It's about x0 million dollars (US).

Thanks Sea.
