標記樂園牛丸大王, Lok Yuen Beef Ball shop, Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong

This noodle shop was once pretty good and famous for its beef ball and I guess it might be one of the few shops who created the balck pepper beef ball; so it is kind of a fusion food. The first time I tried this shop might be around 20 to 25 years ago and the shop's name specified beef balls. Now the shop has changed to Chiu Chow restaurant and inside of it they serve many Chiu Chow dishes.

1. deep fried fish skin HK$10 - quite crispy. 2. black pepper beef/tendon ball noodle soup HK$10. I believe they lowered the price to get competitive to the noodle shops around which sell noodle soup at HK$10. Of course, they give you less beef balls - from 5 to 3. I often get a few drop of chili oil and vinegar to go with.

3. beef brisket flat noodle soup - HK$15 and quite at average. 4. Iced Tea HK$7 - quite a strong aroma of tea, good to go with something hot.

5. Kai Lan HK5 - not too good as they didn't replace the boiling water which has some white tiny bubles on the leave, but it's ok considering it's just HK$5. 6. Actually they have another shop as Chiu Chow restaurant nearby but now this noodle soup also serve Chiu Chow dishes.
7. the shop outside. 8. the original shop serving Chiu Chow Lo Shui food.
9. the Kam Sing Cinema is now called Sun Po on the corner of Soy Street and Fa Yuen Street.

This looks good for some authentic local Chiu Chow food.

I think they drop the price for the noodle because those mini public van drivers gather there and they want eat something cheap. some other noodle shops have noodle at HK$8.

This area used to be my territory. Soy Sauce Street, Fa Yuan Street, Watercress Street and Woman Street were the frequently visited places in my old days.

Be careful next time if you go there. There will be more acid liquid dropping in Sai Yeung Choi street.

Yes, they need to be competitive while trying to maintain their quality but somehow it's hard to control especially they are talking about efficiency. SS, this place is now more than you expected. A whole day is not enough for you to sweep this area.

Thanks Anonymous 6:33. I would take your advice as you told me once on another case. Thanks for that. OK, folks, please don't go to Sai Yeung Choi Street area for the time being as per Anonymous 6:33.

If I go to HK next time, please just put me to Woman Street, Water Cress Street and your old office place(the one with Fried Lard Noodle and Steamed Chong Fun)in the previous post. Oh may be also "Le Yuen East West Street" too. That shall be very fulfilling for me. I think I can "earn" a lot by shopping above. No need to go to the big malls.
