Bali Airport, Indonesia

Bali Airport has been a lot different from the one of 20 years ago. However, they still maintain the characteristics of Bali by putting a lot of their unique arts and crafts.

1. the food at the Premier lounge where almost all the airline lounges are put together is not bad. 2. I was quite surprised the tiramisu is pretty good.

3. the Lounge. 4. the gates and back behind is the runway. The airport is built on the southern neck area of the Island - very good use of the narrow neck and besides, it's good that they don't have any mountain around the airport. It's also one arguable point when the Chek Lap Kok Airport Hong Kong was situated where the mountain of Lantau and the western NT area would create a kind of wind shift which is quite dangerous for landing.

5. another view to the gates. 6. the other side of the terminal.

7/8. there are quite many nice stone sculptures around - making you feel like you are in a jungle - a happy and friendly one.

9/10. very nice piece of art. 10. Garuda is kind of a Indonesian National symbol - it may be referred to as "Divine Eagle".

11/12. the shops inside.

Yes Taiwanese like to go to Bali for vacation. However, they said the cost in Bali is a lot higher than in BKK for the same grade of hotels or same quality of food.

In seeinig how Kenting (墾丁) has developed, you would know why most Taiwanese enjoy going to Bali. Even on the CX flight, we noticed quite a no. of Taiwanese passengers flying via HK to Bali.

SS, yes, it's due to the relatively higher Gov't tax. When we take meals in the hotel restaurants, there is a 10% service charge and 11% Gov't tax. Bali used to be not that costly at the time I visited in 1989, but now no more because it has become the hottest place for many Europeans/Americans besides Australians....etc.
