Passed by this restaurant making use of the name Luk Yu (a renowned Cantonese tea house serving high priced dim sum plus "in advance tipping for a table").
1. I guess you would probably "wow" "what".... Euros 15 for a shrimp dumpling. You can actually get a nice shrimp dumpling at HK$15. Together with 5 to 6 dim sum, the bill can be easily up to Euros 100 per person.

This is disgusting.
$15 Euro for dim sum?
French people must have very high income in average.
No wonder Europeans like to shop and eat at BKK. BKK is like a low-priced bargain paradise.
In-advance tip to get a table? So no tip no table?
I was actually opening up my eyes like my eyes ball are jumping out. FYI, Japanese gyoza is Euro 1 for one, and I think it's at least cheaper than dim dum.
Re Luk Yu in HK, the in-advance tipping is to get you a better table without waiting in line. You can pay no tip but of course, no service. BTW, even after you pay tip, that doesn't mean you would get extra smile. Just I guess they have got spoiled by those tycoons paying tips much more than your $100. :) So I just dined there one time and got blamed by my friend for "not appreciating this customs.". I would very much like to tip B1,000 for the waiters in Lord Jim's/Le Normandie, but not on this kind of arrogant in-advance tipping.
知道,你好。謝謝你的祝福。也祝你一切順心安好!
Har, Luk Yue in HK is like that?
You mean everyone knows about this "pre-tip better-seat" arrangement or this is just some secret deal from you?
Where else besides Luk Yue is like this?
For example, in Vegas long time ago when we went to the show, we gave this tipping to the usher before being seated for better front seat. This is common practice and everyone knows. However, tip or no tip the service is still very good in Vegas. The only difference is the seat location.
Mmh... I have no idea if it's a common practice but just I was told it's like that. So I told my friend I wouldn't like to go to restaurants like that, or actually it's not them who prefer that but just some people enjoy doing so by taking some pride in it.
