breakfast at Adelphi Grande, Bangkok, Thailand

In chatting with the sales manager of Adelphi Grande, I commented that their breakfast is beyond my expectation and in fact better than the original Adelphi and some other hotels. I don't take much for the breakfast. Just some toast, boiled egg and fruits are good enough. Apparently, their sausage and bacon are not bad. So she told me they hired a chef from Centara Grande.

at least they hv grilled tomato and pancake

rooms also ok, facilities not bad, and service was prompt; okay give them a 4-star (although they claimed as 5-star) ratings

do those Thai hotel owners understand how the "star" system works?

Mmh... I also give it a 4 star rating. If they claim 5 star, they need to have one or two more restaurants in different style and there should be either an in-house spa or outsourced spa house. Besides, I forgot if they have a business center? Furthermore, a hotel owned/administered transport service like hotel limo...etc.

FYI, I got told by someone they often prefer 5-star hotels but when they come to some hotels with 5-star but the room carpet and some interor things are old or a mono-chrome TV set (not LCD), they would think this not a 5-star. I then told them 5-star and "new" facilities are 2 different things. If you want everything new, you should go check with their renovation date or establishment date. Or further if you want 5-star with everything new, you need to check both ways, not just counting on the 5 star shown on the web...etc. As for me, I don't count on 5-star, I would rather count on "new" and quiet.

I think the Thai hotels need to take some references to certain hotels in China. For the star rating, quite a no. of hotels in China they would specifically claim "China domestic 4-star rating". :)

Adelphi Grande deserves a "5-star LA domestic rating" from me because of the good breakfast and the free 24-hour internet.
The buffet breakfast would cost us $10US(breakfast time) or $20(lunch time) per person here in LA.

SS, yes, sometimes a personal additional star is recommended. :)

VIE would have 6-star if buffet breakfast and free internet service are provided.
Well, you cannot get everything though.
